Grutas de Mira de Aire

Mira de Aire Caves are the largest tourist caves in Portugal. Its extension reaches already the 11kms, but only 600 meters can be visited touristy. Inaugurated in 1974, they have received more than 6 million visitors, including 15% of national and foreign study visits from various levels of education.
The dimensions, beauty and ecological importance of the groundwater associated with a polje with periodic floods led to the classifications as Property of Public Interest (1955) and Sitio RAMSAR (2005).
It is historically associated with the founding of Portuguese Speleology, and the complexity of the subterranean network permanently attracts speleologists who regularly carry out new investigations and discoveries.
The Cave Houses
The Caves of Mira de Aire have 11 accommodation units "The Houses of the Grotto" Bungalow type (TO, T1 and T2)
Equipped with air conditioning, fridge, microwave, stove, oven, tv and internet, this new development is located next to the exit of the cave, in a quiet and restful place.
Each bungalow will be entitled to free parking for 1 car.
Aquagruta - Water Park
In a more recreational, leisure and entertainment area, all those who move to the caves area can enjoy the hot days between June and September to refresh themselves in the Aquatic Park "Aquagruta", which exits the caves.
It is a space that has: swimming pool, children 's aqualand, 3 water slides tobogans, solarium, bar - terrace and several leisure spaces.
The Aquagruta is framed in a wonderful space, with the Polje de Mira-Minde and the Serra de Aire as the backdrop.
Restaurant
Anyone who appreciates traditional Portuguese cuisine, which does not dispense with a more elaborate and modern dish, finds here a "perfect wedding" that satisfies the most demanding palates.
The architecture and the decoration, allied to a natural and odd landscape create, on the whole, a tranquil atmosphere that opens the appetite.
Events
The size of Mira de Aire Caves, with large rooms and galleries allows the execution of events in an odd scene, as well as the making of films, video clips, telenovelas, etc.
The growing interest in new things in different spaces has led to the appearance of an event room where exhibitions, shows, meetings, product presentations, dinners and other things that imagination and creativity can offer.
