Fátima Full Day Tour

Route:

Fátima

The first place we will visit during the tour will be the sanctuary of Fatima. Fatima is one of the most important and mysterious places of pilgrimage for the entire Catholic world. More than five million believers come here every year to discover the three secrets that Fatima revealed to the three shepherds during the six apparitions from 13 May to 13 October.

Batalha

Continuing the route, we will arrive at Batalha. The village was founded by King John I, together with the Monastery of St. Mary of Victory, to thank the supposed divine help in the victory of the Battle of Aljubarrota (August 14, 1385).

Alcobaça

After visiting the monastery we invite you to taste one of the most popular Portuguese dishes "Bacalhau". Just 20 minutes by car from Batalha is another important historical monument that we will visit: the Benedictine monastery of Alcobaça, founded by the first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques in 1153, to commemorate the victory over the Moors. This is the first architectural structure in Portugal built in the Gothic style and is declared by UNESCO World Heritage.

Nazaré

The next visit is Nazareth. This is where Vasco da Gama prayed before and after leaving for India and where in 2011 Garrett McNamara surfed the highest wave, breaking the world record.

Óbidos

At the end we will take a stroll through the wonderful city of Óbidos. The city is world famous thanks to the chocolate festival and medieval festival that take place here every year. One of the more traditional things to do is to taste cherry liqueur called "Ginja" served in a chocolate cup.
